We source from trusted vendors specializing in untrained dogs bred for protection work, testing each one for genetics, temperament, and drive until we find the perfect fit for you.

Training
Through a mix of board and train programs and in-person sessions, we develop both the dog and handler — building advanced obedience, protection skills, and lasting trust.

How old will the protection dog be?
We typically source “green dogs” — adolescents roughly 9 months to 2 years old with the genetic drive and confidence suited for protection work. Green dogs have the instincts needed but little or no formal protection training, which lets us shape their development to your needs. We generally avoid recommending very young puppies for protection work because temperaments can change as they mature.
Can I use a breeder I already know?
Possibly. We’re happy to evaluate a dog from a breeder you trust, and we’ll ask specific questions about lines and temperament. That said, Kilo Select™ looks for dogs bred with the drive, structure, and confidence required for protection work — not every breeder’s puppies will meet that standard. We’ll assess any candidate before moving forward.
How long does the process take?
Timelines vary per dog and handler, but Kilo Select™ is a longer-term program. Expect several months minimum: sourcing, initial evaluation, early development, and the custom training phase all take time because we’re building both a capable dog and a confident handler who work seamlessly together.

What can I expect when training is complete?
Every placement is customized, but you can expect a professional, dependable partner: advanced on- and off-leash obedience in distracting environments, reliable recall and control, and task-specific protection or service skills. For protection work that includes controlled bite response, dogs are trained to engage and release on command and to target appropriate areas while maintaining control under pressure. Above all, graduates are socialized, stable, and able to behave professionally in public and at home.
